ECO RENTALS — Terms & Conditions

Welcome to ECO RENTALS. These Terms & Conditions govern your use of the ECO RENTALS website and services. By accessing or using our platform, you agree to comply with and be bound by these terms.

1. About ECO RENTALS

ECO RENTALS is a vehicle rental platform in the Maldives offering motorcycle rental, scooter rental, and car rental (hereinafter collectively referred to as “ECO RENTALS”), booked through the ECO RENTALS website and provided by ECO RENTALS and/or its partners.

2. Eligibility

To use our services, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old;
  • Hold a valid identity document — a passport, national identity card, or driving licence (a valid driving licence is required to operate any rented vehicle);
  • Provide accurate and complete registration and booking details.

We reserve the right to refuse service if eligibility requirements are not met.

3. Account Registration

  • Users may need to create an account to access certain features.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
  • Any activity carried out under your account is your responsibility.

4. Booking and Confirmation

4.1 The service may be ordered online at least 24 hours before the start of the rental period. All bookings are subject to availability, and prices are displayed clearly at the time of booking.

4.2 An order is confirmed once the Lessee has paid the required online booking deposit in full and has received the reservation voucher from ECO RENTALS at the email address provided in the order. If the Lessee fails to pay the booking deposit, the order shall be deemed unconfirmed and may be cancelled at any time.

4.3 When completing the booking order, the Lessee warrants that all information provided is true and accurate.

4.4 ECO RENTALS may request additional confirmation of the booking details from the Lessee before providing the service. If such confirmation is not given, or if the booking deposit or service cost is not paid, ECO RENTALS may cancel the order, decline to provide the service, and claim compensation from the Lessee for the unperformed contract and any lost benefits.

5. Changes and Extensions

5.1 An accepted order may be amended only up to 24 hours before collection of the booked vehicle, and only if ECO RENTALS confirms the amendment to the Lessee’s specified email address or mobile number. The following administrative fees apply to order modifications by the Lessee: the first change is free of charge; the second and each subsequent change incurs a fee of MVR 100.

5.2 The rental period for a vehicle already collected may be extended provided the Lessee gives at least 24 hours’ advance notice and receives confirmation from ECO RENTALS at the specified email address or mobile number. In such cases, the Lessee shall pay the price of the extended rental period at an ECO RENTALS office before the extended period begins.

5.3 The rental period for a vehicle already collected may be reduced provided the Lessee gives at least 24 hours’ advance notice and receives written confirmation from ECO RENTALS at the specified email address or mobile number. In such cases, the rental price shall not be recalculated and no refund shall be made.

5.4 The minimum rental period for ECO RENTALS is 24 hours.

6. Vehicle Allocation

ECO RENTALS advertises specific vehicle models but cannot guarantee that the Lessee will receive the exact model or brand shown. ECO RENTALS will make every reasonable effort to provide the vehicle model indicated on the booking order but may, where necessary, substitute a similar vehicle of the same or a higher class on the same pricing terms. If ECO RENTALS is unable to provide the booked vehicle or a similar one due to circumstances beyond its control, it shall notify the Lessee and refund in full the amount paid. In such cases, ECO RENTALS shall not be liable for any additional compensation to the Lessee.

7. Vehicle Usage

7.1 Vehicles must be used responsibly, lawfully, and in accordance with the traffic laws of the Republic of Maldives.

7.2 The Lessee agrees not to:

  • Use the vehicle for any illegal activity;
  • Sublease, lend, or transfer the vehicle to any third party;
  • Operate the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

8. Responsibility

The Lessee is responsible for:

  • Any damage to the vehicle occurring during the rental period;
  • All traffic violations, fines, and penalties incurred during the rental period;
  • Returning the vehicle in the agreed condition, on time, and at the agreed location.

9. Payments, Cancellations and Refunds

9.1 Payments must be made through approved methods. ECO RENTALS reserves the right to update pricing at any time and to cancel bookings in the event of failed or fraudulent payments.

9.2 The booking deposit is non-refundable in the event of the Lessee’s default or where the order is cancelled less than 15 days before the start of the rental period. In all other cases, the Lessee may apply the paid booking deposit to a subsequent ECO RENTALS order placed within one calendar year of the original order date.

9.3 Where any sums are refundable to the Lessee, the refund shall be processed within a reasonable time and made after deduction of any administrative and bank fees, as well as any charges for order cancellation or amendment.

10. Insurance & Liability

10.1 Vehicles may be covered by basic insurance where applicable. The Lessee is responsible for any excess or deductible amounts, and for any damage not covered by the insurance policy.

10.2 ECO RENTALS is not liable for:

  • Personal injury arising from misuse of the vehicle;
  • Loss of or damage to personal belongings;
  • Indirect or consequential damages.

11. Prohibited Activities

Users must not provide false information or misuse vehicles or services. Any violation may result in cancellation of the booking, suspension of the account, forfeiture of the booking deposit, and/or legal action.

12. Service Availability

Our website and services are provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation of the platform.

13. Privacy

Your use of the platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy. We collect and use your data only as necessary to provide our services.

14. Termination

ECO RENTALS reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts, cancel bookings, and restrict access without prior notice in the event of any violation of these terms.

15. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the platform means you accept the updated terms.

16. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Maldives.
